PEPPERMINT
Peppermint is one of the most widely used and versatile essential oils in the world. Its signature “minty” fragrance is refreshing and clean, and the oil also helps to increase energy, improve circulation, promote healing and provide pain relief. Peppermint essential oil is commonly used in dental products, skincare products, shampoos, soaps, aromatherapy, insect repellent formulations, cleaning products and food flavorings.
Peppermint essential oil relieves pain on contact with a cooling, numbing sensation, making it a go-to remedy for headaches, migraines, sore muscles and arthritic joints. This oil stimulates the circulation of blood flow, helping to deliver nutrients throughout the body, and also contains anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that help to heal wounds and promote disinfection.
Peppermint essential oil is also useful with certain skin ailments. A few drops added to shampoo can help in the treatment of alopecia, and a few drops added to skin oil or lotion has been shown to promote healing with herpes viruses. Studies also show that Peppermint essential oil promotes better dental health - a few drops added to your toothbrush or mouthwash helps to rid the mouth of cavity-causing bacteria and leaves your mouth feeling refreshingly clean.
Peppermint essential oil is a wonderful addition to diffusers and helps impart an energizing, fresh fragrance throughout the home or office. It can be mixed with other essential oils like Orange, Lemon or Eucalyptus to use as a deodorizing bathroom spray. Peppermint essential oil can also be added to natural cleaning solutions.

USES
Caution: do not put Peppermint essential oil directly on your skin full-strength. It must be diluted in a carrier (either oil or soap) first. Carrier Oil Suggestions: Almond, Hemp, MCT, Jojoba, Apricot, Sunflower and Olive Oils all work well with Peppermint Essential Oil.
For Pain Relief
Using your favorite carrier oil, blend 10% Peppermint essential oil with 90% carrier oil. If you like, you can increase the amount of Peppermint up to 30% of the formula. Use in a roll-on bottle to roll directly on the area, or it can also be dabbed on with your fingers. For headaches, rub a few drops of the blend into your temples and forehead. It can also be dabbed under the nose and inhaled gently for relief of sinus pressure.
For Skin and Hair Oil
Dilute 1% (5-6 drops) of essential oil per ounce of your favorite carrier oil.
In your Favorite Shampoo
Dilute 1 - 3% (5 - 10 drops) per ounce of shampoo. Lather and rinse as usual.
For Dental Use
Add a few drops to your toothbrush and brush as usual.
Add a few drops to a cup of water and rinse/gargle as usual.
For Home and Cleaning Use
In a diffuser: Add 3-5 drops of Peppermint essential oil for every 100 ml of water.
Cleaning Spray: Add 1 teaspoon of Peppermint essential oil to 1 cup of water in a spray bottle. Spray the surface, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe. Shake bottle well before each use.
Insect Repellent: Add 10 drops of Peppermint essential oil to 2 cups of water and place in a spray bottle. Shake well and spray as needed to ward off ants, mosquitoes and other insects. Peppermint essential oil is even more effective as an insect spray when combined with Citronella, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Lemongrass or Cedarwood.
